Investing in crypto-assets also means choosing who you trust to safeguard them.

Given the risks of cyberattacks, account hacking and fraud attempts, security is a key criterion when choosing an investment platform.

At Coinhouse, **the protection of your crypto-assets relies on several complementary layers of security**, combining specialised technologies, control procedures, a European regulatory framework and human support.

1\. How does Coinhouse secure the storage of your crypto-assets?

### Mostly offline storage (cold storage)

\+

At Coinhouse, **more than 70% of crypto-assets are held offline**, thanks to a security infrastructure based on Ledger technology.

This system, known as *cold storage*, consists of keeping the means of access to crypto-assets in an environment disconnected from the Internet.

The goal is simple: to limit their exposure to remote cyberattacks.

Storage also relies on a **multi-signature system**, which strengthens control over access and operations. Operations on these assets require the involvement of several authorised people. No single employee or workstation can move these funds alone.

### Separation between client assets and Coinhouse's own assets

\+

Crypto-assets entrusted to Coinhouse are held separately from the company's own assets.

This segregation notably prevents client assets from being mixed with those of Coinhouse or used on its own behalf.

**Key takeaway:** offline storage, the multi-signature system and asset segregation provide several complementary layers of protection.

2\. How does Coinhouse protect access to your account?

### Strong authentication (SCA): an extra layer of protection

\+

Coinhouse uses **Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)** to secure access to your account and the approval of sensitive operations.

This technology relies on a combination of several authentication factors, such as:

- Something you know, such as a personal PIN code.
- A trusted device you own, such as your smartphone.
- A biometric element, such as a fingerprint or facial recognition, depending on the features available.

The Coinhouse app lets you approve certain sensitive operations directly from your trusted device.

This system helps limit the risk of fraudulent access, especially when login details have been compromised.

### Why is this more secure than a simple SMS code?

\+

Codes sent by SMS can be exposed to certain fraud techniques, notably phone number hijacking (*SIM swapping*) or phishing.

Using a trusted device combined with strong authentication adds an extra layer of protection.

**Key takeaway:** even if a third party obtains your password, they do not necessarily have what is required to authorise a sensitive operation. **For this reason, you must never approve an operation that you did not initiate yourself.**

3\. How are crypto-asset withdrawals secured?

Crypto-asset transfers have one important characteristic: **a transaction confirmed on the blockchain is generally irreversible.**

This is why Coinhouse may apply additional checks before executing certain withdrawal requests.

### Additional checks when necessary

\+

Depending on the characteristics of an operation, a withdrawal request may be subject to a security check.

In this case:

- The withdrawal may temporarily appear with the status "Pending".
- Additional information may be requested.
- A Coinhouse employee may call you to confirm an operation **that you initiated yourself**.
- The transfer is executed once the necessary checks have been completed and the request approved.

These checks aim in particular to limit the risks of fraud, identity theft, unauthorised transfers and hacking attempts.

They may cause an additional delay, but they help protect your crypto-assets.

**👉 Important**

A Coinhouse advisor will never ask you:

- to share your password, a security code or your recovery phrase;
- to initiate a new transfer, or to change the destination address or the amount of a withdrawal.

**If you have any doubt about who you are speaking to, end the call and contact our customer service using the contact details available on our official website.**

4\. Does Coinhouse have insurance?

Yes. Coinhouse holds **Professional Liability insurance with MMA IARD Assurances Mutuelles**, covering its professional activities subject to the terms and limits of the policy.

This insurance is part of Coinhouse's overall risk management framework.

It complements the technical, organisational and regulatory measures implemented to secure its activities.

It is important, however, to distinguish this professional cover from individual insurance that would systematically guarantee clients' crypto-assets.

Professional liability insurance does not mean that every loss related to a cyberattack, fraud or market downturn is automatically compensated.

5\. Is Coinhouse a regulated platform in France and Europe?

Yes. Coinhouse is licensed as a **Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP)** by the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF), under number A2026-013, in accordance with the European MiCA regulation.

This licence requires compliance with requirements relating to:

- Governance and internal control.
- Operational risk management and IT security.
- Protection and safekeeping of clients' crypto-assets.
- Transparency and investor information.
- Compliance and regulatory supervision.

The MiCA regulation establishes a harmonised framework at European level for crypto-asset service providers.

For clients, it provides an additional protective framework, with specific obligations applicable to licensed institutions.

**The MiCA licence does not, however, eliminate the risks associated with crypto-assets, notably volatility, cyberattacks or fraud.**

6\. What does Coinhouse do to fight fraud attempts?

Phishing, identity theft, hacks and fake advisors are significant risks for crypto-asset holders.

To help protect its clients, Coinhouse combines several measures:

- Strong authentication for sensitive operations.
- Additional verification procedures on certain withdrawals.
- The possibility of restricting certain account features if fraud is suspected.
- Checks before certain sensitive access or features are restored.
- Involvement of human teams when additional checks are necessary.

### Good practices to adopt

\+

Security also depends on your vigilance.

Never share your login details, security codes or passwords with a third party, even if they claim to represent Coinhouse. Coinhouse will never ask you to make a crypto-asset transfer, for security reasons or for any other reason.

Always check the identity of the person you are speaking to and the address of the website you are logging into.

Never approve an SCA operation that you did not initiate yourself.

Finally, be wary of anyone who promises to recover lost or stolen crypto-assets in exchange for a payment.

Read our recommendations: [Securing your Coinhouse account: the rules to follow](https://support.coinhouse.com/hc/en-gb/articles/18569040697106?hsLang=en).

7\. Can you strengthen control over your withdrawals?

Yes. For investors holding significant crypto-asset wealth, security is not limited to the safekeeping of funds: it also concerns control over operations and withdrawals.

As part of the **Coinhouse Private Management offer**, eligible clients benefit from a dedicated contact and can explore with our teams the implementation of an **enhanced withdrawal control procedure**, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

This system makes it possible to govern withdrawal requests according to a predefined validation procedure, providing an additional level of control over fund movements.

The aim: **better control crypto-asset outflows and limit the risk of unauthorised operations.**

Discover the Coinhouse Private Management offer and talk to our teams about how this procedure works.

8\. Frequently asked questions about security at Coinhouse

### Are my crypto-assets stored on the Internet?

\+

No, for the most part. The vast majority of crypto-assets entrusted to Coinhouse are held offline using cold storage. This reduces their exposure to remote cyberattacks. Only the share needed to process day-to-day operations is held in connected wallets.

### Can my crypto-assets be withdrawn without my authorisation?

\+

No. Coinhouse uses strong authentication and security checks designed to reduce the risk of unauthorised withdrawals. However, no system can completely eliminate the risk of fraud, particularly if the account holder is manipulated.

### Why might Coinhouse temporarily block a withdrawal?

\+

Some withdrawals require an additional check to confirm the legitimacy of the operation. The transfer may remain pending until this check is complete.

### Is Coinhouse licensed by the AMF?

\+

Yes. Coinhouse holds CASP licence no. A2026-013, granted by the AMF under the European MiCA regulation.

### How can I strengthen the security of my withdrawals?

\+

In addition to Coinhouse's standard measures, eligible clients can discuss enhanced withdrawal control options with our teams, notably as part of Private Management.

**At Coinhouse, the security of your crypto-assets relies on a comprehensive approach: specialised storage technologies, control procedures, strong authentication, a regulated environment and human support.**

Because protecting your digital wealth is just as important as growing it.
