Are you unable to make a payment by credit card?

You have reached your credit card purchase limit
When your account is at level 1, your card limit is set at €1,000 for life. Once this threshold is reached, you can only make purchases via bank transfer.

The solution

You can increase this limit by requesting an upgrade to level 2 from your personal space. Your limit will then be €2,000 per day. At level 3, it will increase to at least €5,000 per day and can be raised further upon request to customer service.

Your bank has blocked the card payment suspecting fraud
It is very common for some traditional banks to detect cryptocurrency purchase transactions as fraudulent. In such cases, they systematically block the payment for security reasons.

The solution

  • Contact your banking advisor to find out more.
  • Try using another credit card.
  • Proceed with a purchase via bank transfer.
You have reached your credit card withdrawal limit
Your payment may be declined by your bank because you have reached your credit card withdrawal limit. Sometimes, payments on Coinhouse are considered withdrawal operations, and reaching your withdrawal limit will prevent you from making a purchase.

The solution

Contact your banking advisor or increase your withdrawal limit through your banking app.

An anomaly has been detected on your account or misuse of your card
Possible reasons include:
  • You are using a credit card that is not in your name.
  • You have made multiple failed or declined credit card purchase attempts by our card payment provider (error detection, missing 3DS validation, incorrect data, insufficient funds, etc.).
  • The information you provided when creating your account led us to preemptively disallow credit card payments as a precautionary measure by the "Compliance and Risk Management" department. Please refer to Coinhouse's Terms and Conditions.

The solution

If you have not yet made any transactions on the platform, it means that for compliance and risk management reasons, the credit card purchase option has been temporarily suspended. It will then be necessary to make a first purchase via bank transfer to lift the suspension. Buying via bank transfer is a flexible and simple alternative. Once a purchase transaction has been successfully completed via bank transfer on our site, you will be able to buy again using a credit card.
